Small wildfire burning in Rincon Mountains east of Tucson

A small, lightning sparked fire is burning in the Rincon Mountains east of Tucson. The fire was spotted around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday burning two miles northeast of Spud Rock, according to a news release from the Saguaro National Park. Its current size is about 1 acre. Firefighters are monitoring the fire and will take action as needed, the park said. The fire is burning in the Saguaro Wilderness at about 8,400 feet. It is burning in steep and rugged terrain. The area most recently burned in the 2003 Helen's 2 Fire, the park said.
