Bladder system important for fighting fires

Water retrieved from Rim lakes by helicopters was a big factor in fighting the recent Highline Fire, which means the “bladders” strategically placed throughout the forest by Gila County did not play much of a role. However, in a June 23 press release, Tonto National Forest Payson District Ranger Debbie Cress thanked multiple agencies, including Gila County, for working together to suppress the Highline Fire. “We are appreciative of the Type 1 team’s support and thank them for their successful efforts on the Highline Fire,” Cress said.
