Longtime Pine Bluff fire chief dies at 90

Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services employees are mourning the loss of a retired fire chief who died at the age of 90. Retired Fire Chief William Ray Jacks served in Pine Bluff from September 1949 to March 1999. While in Pine Bluff, he served as fire chief for 26 1/2 years. "Gone but not forgotten," Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services posted on Facebook as it gave thanks to the fire chief for his service. Jacks' visitation will be Wednesday, May 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and funeral services will be held May 17 at 2 p.m. He will be buried at the Rowell Cemetery. His funeral arrangements are being handled by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home.
