Firefighters responded to two grass fires Tuesday morning in north Jonesboro, according to E-911 Director Jeff Presley. The fires were reported just after 10 in the 1300-blocks of Thomas Green Road and Bennett Drive. Several fire crews and trucks responded to the scene and managed to knock out the flames within a matter of minutes. Fire officials said the fire was primarily located near Thomas Green and never breached the tree line on the Bennett side. Had it done so, several homes would have been at risk.
