The fire chief for North Little Rock has died. City officials made the announcement Sunday morning that Jim Murphy had passed away. Murphy came out of retirement in 2014 to head the city's fire service. The North Little Rock website says he was a 40-year veteran beginning his career in a Florida fire department in 1974. He rose through the ranks of the Orange County Florida fire and rescue teams before founding a software company that specialized in training first-responders. The city did not give an age or cause of death.
