A Pleasant Grove firefighter was injured when a wall collapsed on him in a house blaze early Friday. Police and firefighters responded about 2:30 a.m. to the fire at 1141 14th Avenue in the Fan Road community. Police Chief Corky Knight said the spacious home was fully involved when first responders arrived on the scene. "It burned to the ground,'' Knight said. "We don't know how long it had been burning before somebody called so it had a head start." It took firefighters about three hours to extinguish the blaze. Knight said a firefighter was injured when one of the walls collapsed. He suffered torn ligaments and a broken bone in his ankle. He was taken to the hospital but was already back out on the scene at 7 a.m. to collect some personal items before going to see a surgeon.
