A mother and her daughter were taken to the hospital after they fell into a freezing lake while trying to save their dog Wednesday night in Madison. Emergency workers pulled the mother from the lake after 8 p.m. The 10-year-old daughter also fell in, but she already was out of the water when Madison firefighters arrived. The accident happened at Somerset at Madison Apartments on Continental Drive. The apartments are just off County Line and Palmer roads. Despite receiving CPR from emergency workers for about half an hour, the dog did not survive, said Madison Fire and Rescue Capt. Michael Sedlacek.
