Decatur’s sole ambulance service was required by ordinance to list pending and resolved litigation in an annual disclosure filed last month, but it did not include a federal order requiring it to pay $568,328.50. It’s an omission that some city officials view as additional evidence the ordinance needs to be scrapped and replaced with a contract that can be bid on by other ambulance companies and more easily enforced. Decatur Fire Chief Tony Grande said the city has a legitimate interest in tracking court judgments and other aspects of the ambulance provider’s business that could impact performance.
