The Goodman Volunteer Fire Department officially received the deed to the land where the fire station sits on Thursday, Oct. 12, making it easier for the department to apply for grants or build.
According to a statement provided on behalf of the family by Trustee E. Kevin Brown, the Goodman community was settled by the Goodman family at the turn of the century. Bertie C. Goodman raised livestock and crops, and his wife, Effie, was a teacher and principal at Goodman Junior High School.
