Husband, wife killed in west Jefferson County house fire

Jefferson County authorities confirm there was a double fatal fire at 676 McClain Rd. in Bessemer Saturday night. Two people killed overnight in a house fire have been identified as James Allman and Barbara Allman, according to reports. The man is believed to be about 90 years old and the woman is believed to be in her 70s. Concord Fire Chief Duane Prater said the fire appears to have started around midnight. First responders arrived after receiving a call from a neighbor saying smoke and flames were visible.
