A boy from St. Louis died during a family vacation when rough surf kicked up by a tropical storm sent a large log crashing down on him. The 10-year-old was in Alabama when he was fatally struck in front of his family's condo Wednesday morning. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office reports that officers initially arrived in the 3100 block of Ponce De Leon Court at around 10:30 a.m. for reports of a possible drowning. His father told investigators that the 10-year-old was only standing a few feet from the front door. He was between the large log and the door when the wave washed in, officials from the sheriff's office said.
