A Birmingham firefighter was arrested in Hoover Wednesday after police say he showed obscene photos to four different females, two of them under the age of 10. Hoover police announced the arrest of Kevin Dewayne Turpin. The 41-year-old man has worked at Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service's Station 3 for several years. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Chief Charles Gordon said Turpin previously notified his supervisors about the ongoing investigation, which he is required by policy to do within 72 hours. Now that charges have been filed, Gordon said the internal investigation will continue and appropriate action will be taken pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
