The Tallassee Police Department located the body of an 18-month-old boy swept away in the Tallapoosa River on Saturday.
The body was located around 11 p.m. Saturday, according to David Rogers, assistant fire chief for the Tallassee Fire Department.
Detectives with the Tallassee Police Department received a tip from a witness on a possible location where the child was last seen, he said. Detectives returned to the area and recovered the child’s body.
An initial rescue operation began Saturday afternoon that gave way to a recovery search, according to Rogers.
