Anchorage firefighters fought a fire in East Anchorage that engulfed a duplex. AFD said everyone inside the building was able to evacuate and no injuries have been reported. The fire started on the back porch and spread throughout the attic, said Senior Fire Captain Mike Ascone. An official cause of the fire has not been determined. Ascone said the duplex was unlivable and Red Cross personnel were needed to help residents. Around 6 p.m. firefighters were searching for hidden fires in the duplex that could cause future flames or hot spots to flare up.
