Investigation underway in Fairbanks library shooting that injured an 18-year-old

Wednesday, we reported that the Fairbanks North Star Borough Administration was notified about a discharged firearm in the Noel Wein Library. According to Fairbanks Police, the Fairbanks Fire Department responded to a call of an injury supposedly caused by the explosion of a phone charger. After examining the 18-year-old victim, firefighters discovered the injury was from a bullet. The fire department contacted FPD. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was struck in the arm by a bullet that ricocheted inside the library. The weapon was not found on site, but the bullet was recovered.
