Firefighters were able to save a North Pole house from destruction Tuesday morning after a nearby garage caught fire.
Crews responded to the blaze within two minutes of getting the call at 10:21 a.m., North Pole fire Capt. Kevin Haywood said.
“With the quick response of both North Pole Fire Department and North Star Volunteer Fire Department, we were able to get a really quick stop on it to keep damage away from the primary residence and keep it contained to the detached garage,” Haywood said.
The house was not damaged and the residents were not displaced, Haywood said. The garage was a total loss, and a Class C motor home parked near the garage had significant damage to the outside and rear interior.
No firefighters or occupants were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
