The University of Alaska Fairbanks Fire Department responded to a small fire in the Nenana Parking lot on lower campus Sunday evening about 8:30 p.m. A carport-style tent had caught fire in the construction area near the parking lot, according to the UAF alert. Campus firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly and reported the fire out in a second report published at 8:45 p.m. The shelter and some tools were damaged in the blaze but no injuries were reporter, said Marmian Grimes, UAF public information officer. The cause of the fire in still under investigation.
