Four Manchester firefighters injured while battling a fire Sunday afternoon went back into the Seventh Avenue home to continue the firefight. They were also back on the job on Monday.
“You're right next to each other but you can't see each other,” Capt. Pete Franggos, of the Manchester Fire Department, said.
“It was that explosion, boom, and it was a giant fireball,” Defina said. “There was a lot of screaming at that point and, ‘Ah, get out. Get out.’”
“It was a close call,” Defina said.
The house is a total loss.
Investigators said a spark from a pellet stove vent on the outside of the home ignited leaves nearby, leading to the fire.
