The City of Bremerton offers affordable, quality living in a spectacular water and mountain setting.  Located on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State, Bremerton lies east of the Olympic mountains and directly across the Puget Sound from Seattle. With a population of 40,500, the City of Bremerton is the largest city in Kitsap County and serves as the urban center for the Bremerton-Silverdale Metropolitan Area. The Bremerton Fire Department provides first tier emergency response to incidents involving fire, emergency medical services, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials, rescue, and fulfills other requests for service. The department provides fire prevention and investigation services through the office of the fire marshal, emergency management services to city government and the community, public education in the areas of first aid, CPR, public defibrillation, CERT, and fire extinguisher training, and is involved in the greater community through outreach and collaborative city events and programs. The department maintains three fire stations and responds to approximately 9,000 calls annually. The administrative staff includes the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief and an Administrative Assistant. The department's 2016 budget was $9 million. 

Under the direction of the Mayor, the Fire Chief plans, organizes, and directs emergency and non-emergency operations of fire suppression, emergency medical, and fire prevention. The Fire Chief serves as the Emergency Manager for the entire City of Bremerton. 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in fire science, public administration or a closely related field is required. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible fire service command experience with a multi-station department is required. Candidates must have EFO certification. Consideration will be given to any combination of education and experience that would reflect meeting the qualifications.
