Salary Range:   $72,500-$78,500 D.O.Q.
5% base longevity increase at 7 years and 12 years of service

The Fire District is currently recruiting to fill the position of Division Chief – Support Services.  The Division Chief-Support Services is responsible for the management and administrative functions of the Public Education, Public Relations, Hazard Assessment and Physical Resources Section; a major enterprise of the Support Services Division, inclusive of program management and program and member performance evaluations.
 
This position is an exempt position and will serve as a chief officer of the District and will routinely be responsible for emergency scene management functions.
 
The District provides a full range of services to approximately 20,206 citizens in 110 square miles of beautiful urban, suburban and rural areas on the southern borders of the City of Spokane and the City of Spokane Valley.  The area’s many lakes, rivers, streams, mountains, and entertainment venues provide for a wide range of recreational and cultural activities.  The District personnel include: 32 career staff, approximately 60 volunteer staff, 14 temporary hourly employees, and a resident firefighter program with up to 12 personnel. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
College level degree or substantial coursework in fire science, fire administration, or business management and administration is highly desirable.  Any combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities required to be successful in the position. 
 
IFSAC Firefighter I certification or equivalent documented training and a minimum of three years of fire service and EMS experience in a similar or larger sized organization.  Desire a minimum of two years at the level of Company Officer in a full service fire agency. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in fire service public education, prevention, and hazard assessment.  Knowledge of facilities, apparatus, and routine maintenance .
