Survey: Capturing institutional knowledge within the fire service

Executive Fire Officer Program

Randy Aust is a Captain at Richland Fire and Emergency Services Department, in Richland, Washington. He is currently enrolled in the Executive Fire Officer Program through the National Fire Academy. For his first year Applied Research Project, Captain Aust is researching how to capture institutional knowledge of senior leadership. Due to retirements, Richland Fire and Emergency Services will experience a large turnover in senior leadership in the next few years. The purpose of the survey is to identify if there is value in passing on institutional knowledge to future leaders, how this knowledge is passed on and the implications of not sharing the information.  This short survey will provide critical information to develop a framework for passing knowledge on to the next generation of fire service leaders. Thank you in advance for your participation in this data gathering survey.
